He looked up at the scant distance from his hospital bed
To the transport bed
waiting at the door to take him downstairs for a CT
And in a quiet musing wistful amazed voice said
that’s not very far
Knowing that these few steps, steps that once were thoughtlessly effortless
Would as though after miles and miles uphill take his breath away

 

Sharon Rawlins is an artist, working primarily as a painter. She recently became caregiver for her husband Jim, who was diagnosed with PH+ALL in November past. A sometimes difficult time with new equations to shape the journey that is life.
